I'm using my Macbook Pro late 2011. I replaced the DVD disk with an 256GB OCZ SSD and I made that SSD my boot driver. I have been using it without any problem for almost 4 years now.

Last night I upgraded my OS to El Capitan, it worked fine then I sleep my mac. Today when I open it, I couldn't login to the OS. It hanged infinitely after I enter my password. I restarted my mac but it is unable to boot, after awhile, it showed a white screen with a folder (with question mark) icon in the center of the screen. I restarted and hit CMD+R to boot to recovery mode and used Disk Utility but it can't recognize the SSD (it doesnt show in the left box where hard drivers are listed).

How can I fix this? For further info, when I upgraded the OS, I remember there was a prompt to encrypt the disk with FileVault and I clicked Yes. Is there any chance that FileVault messed things up? My SSD might be broken but I doubt it because I haven't had disk broken problems for so many years with this laptop and my previous laptops.
